Blasterball 2: Revolution offers core features such as 100 Levels, Rare Power-ups, Multiple Backgrounds, and more. As the game advances, the levels become difficult to complete. During the gameplay, the player can catch rare power-ups and can use to enhance his abilities in the form of extra balls, big ball size, and more. The "Net" is a structure consisting of an inverted sphere initiator typically mounted on a closed roof, with a button on the side facing the endzone. The neutral zone makes up 20 tiles in length, and each endzone is 3 tiles long. Using standard square floor panels as a unit of measurement, the playable surface of the court is 26 tiles long by 5 tiles wide. The standard blasterball court is approximately 150u long.
Casual pick-up games often ignore the shield requirements, and some players enjoy experimenting with other Multi-tool Weapons too. Competitors may play with a max of three installed shield upgrades. Standard equipment for competitive blasterball is a Boltcaster outfitted with a Boltcaster Ricochet Module and any other upgrades desired. This gives a slight advantage to attackers, **however**, any shots that a defender registers on an enemy ball will still have an effect, albeit with a slight delay.
Due to the limits placed on sphere interactions by the NMS servers, the interloper who activates the button and spawns the sphere will experience no latency when interacting with that sphere all other players will find significant lag when attempting to shoot their opponents' (or teammate's) ball. In 2v2 matches, teams will need to decide prior to the start of the round who will defend and who will be on the attack.

The goal of each round is to "steal" a sphere from a raised, inverted generator located in front of your opponent's endzone, and return it to the recessed "goal" in your own endzone. Combat death is possible and legal players who have been killed will respawn at their team's beacon and may rejoin the round. Standard matches are played with full contact and permit only the use of the Boltcaster. Each match has a max of three rounds, and the first team to score two rounds wins the match, also known as a best-two-out-of-three format. Interlopers compete in 2- or 4-player matches, either 1v1 or 2v2. Blasterball is a simulated ball sport originating in the Galactic Hub.
